The Sweet and Saltie blog is produced by JoEllen Schneider and Ron Dwelle.
The sweetwater part refers to our summer cruises aboard Mossy Paws, an Eagle Transpacific 32 trawler, on the Great Lakes—primarily Lake Huron, the North Channel, and Georgian Bay. Our home port is the Duncan Bay Boat Club in Cheboygan, Michigan, at the east end of the Straits of Mackinac.
The saltwater part refers to our winter cruises aboard Prairie Dog, a Prairie 36 trawler, in Florida. The boat is stored for the summer in Port Charlotte, Florida. That’s not exactly a home port, since we leave as soon as possible after launch and return as late as possible before haul-out.

Hi Wes & Ayrton! It’s so great to hear from you. And congratulations Ayrton for finally convincing your dad to bring a cat on board. They really are great boat pets. Cacao has been helping us keep warm this past summer on Lake Superior–it’s been so cold at night, he curls up next to us for warmth, and he in turn gives off warmth. (He usually sleeps up on a shelf in our berth down south.)
As for litter box suggestions, etc., I email you. Might be easier…
