Cleaning up the derelict boats…

We’ve spent most of our winter in Fort Myers Beach on a mooring ball with a good view of the barge cleaning up derelict boats from the area. We watch the barge come in, often 4-5 boats piled high, which they off-load to an vacant lot next to Trico Shrimp where they are dismantled and “broken up” to be hauled away. It’s not pretty. They all have a story. And to think that these boats were once–likely–someone’s home. Sad. –jes
