Playing catch-up…

Yeah, it’s been a while. Lots has happened since we made our way back to our slip in Cheboygan BACK IN AUGUST (!).

We woke to a first in the North Channel while anchored at Turnbull Island: smoke fog from a large forest fire near Killarney, in northern Georgian Bay. However, the forest fires sure made for some gorgeous sunsets.

We finally found a good farmer’s market when we stopped in to visit good friends at Hilton Beach, on St. Joseph Island.

I spent an afternoon paddling up to a waterfall while anchored at Milford Haven.

Our trip back across the top of the lake was uneventful. As always, it felt good to get back home to our slip where my 10,000 steps a day goal is usually easy to achieve.

It was during our final week cruising the North Channel that Ron told me that it’s time to move to a trawler from our sailboat. My reply: “You need to sell this boat first” (because we’ve done the “owning too many boats thing” and we’re both past that!). I think Ron listed Thyme Hyssop & Wry on Craigslist nearly as soon as we returned. If you know of anyone looking for a great, roomy cruising sailboat, please pass on our link!
