Birthday bread?

It’s Ron’s birthday today, and first we had planned to do pizza this evening for dinner. But I had a porterhouse steak in the freezer, and the last steak we grilled was SO much better than any steak Ron has had recently in a restaurant. And the sun was breaking through the clouds by noon. And the NE 15 winds never materialized here at Portlock (winds have been variable, all under 5 knots), so grilling seems a reasonable option. I had the dough mixed up and it’s only supposed to get warmer over the next couple of days. A loaf of bread seemed the perfect option and a good chance to make sure last season’s new oven was still operating well. Ain’t she a beauty?

And me? I took a 1-1/2 hour paddle around the island. I’m beat. This may have been a bit far for my first kayak venture this summer, but I didn’t realize how far I would be paddling!

    • Ron is “aging-phobic” and avoids all mention of his birthday. Thus, our silence. We just arrived in Thessalon; no wind to sail. Now that we are tied up for the night, a beautiful southerly breeze is filling in. Ah well. Free wifi here, finally!
