It took 5 days at anchor, with Ron “patiently” waiting and watching for boats leaving the harbor. Early this afternoon the call finally came through that Boot Key Harbor had an empty mooring ball for us. We have moved to T-8, which is new home for the next 3-4 weeks. It seems like a pleasant enough spot for our floating home, with about half the distance to the dinghy dock and shore from where we were anchored (we will save on dinghy fuel). And we will still have perfect viewing for those sensational sunsets that seem typical here in southern Florida.
Winds finally lightened to around 10 knots today (became nearly calm overnight), but it’s forecast to blow like stink again tomorrow and Saturday. Fortunately, being on a mooring helps us feel more secure, so Ron will sleep well even if the winds howl at night.
